The first step was something that happened to me, not something that I wrote or did. I came to believe through the experience of others that I, like many others described in the preface of the Big Book, have realised that "Yes, that happened to me"; or more important, "Yes, I've felt like that"; or most important, "Yes, I believe this program can work for me, too."
